The Orlando, a Maylands Masterpiece
Inspired by architect Orlando Catenacci’s experiences with overseas travels, The Orlando is a true testament to the freedom of design that architects can achieve using Masterwall in their build. Tackling complexities of any block type while maintaining architectural integrity, means the only limitations you face are that of your own imagination.
Bringing together lavish hotel luxury with exclusive island villa living, X-Space Architects, have brought to life a true masterpiece in the heart of Maylands.
Standing on a subdivided block on Kathleen Avenue, this narrow lot is just 234m2. Featuring an odd block shape and aggressive slopes, this unique location had just the right charm for Catenacci. Possibly it was the stunning city views, which are highlighted through strategically placed aluminium window frames on the upper level.
The Skyline capless system and Masterwall cladding were utilised to embrace the unique geometric angles and style of the home. Removing the requirement for traditional metal parapet capping, this new and innovative ‘cap-less’ system features an advanced waterproof membrane able to withstand harsh Australian conditions. By replacing metal capping with a renderable and flexible butyl membrane over the head of the parapet wall, the Skyline System gives architects and designers the opportunity to create a continuous, monolithic finish on parapets and balcony heads with no ugly metal capping visible at the skyline of the building.
Masterwall’s Modern Methods of Construction systems delivers an external lightweight, pre-meshed, insulated wall cladding, offers not only superior thermal insulation, but true energy efficiency and is specifically developed to meet Australian conditions. Yet most importantly, Masterwall is a system which allows your architectural imagination to soar to new heights, with its endless possibilities. Better value, faster installation and superior quality are why architects such as Orlando Catenacci chose to build with Masterwall.
